The Grand Ciel Lodge buildings occupy the middle of a two-mile by two-mile section overlooking miles of rolling prairie and quiet creek bottoms reminiscent of a bygone era.
Simple and unpretentious from the outside, the lodge is extremely well appointed. Cozy and comfortable suites open to generous common areas for sitting and reliving the hunt or watching a game. A well-stocked bar and a warm and inviting kitchen and dining room make meals a pleasure. An open front porch screened back deck and hot tub complete the package.
For those of you looking for an extra special experience, Grand Ciel Lodge prides itself on its food and beverages. All meals are served family-style in the dining room (unless it's game night, then it might be heavy appetizers in the bar!) and accompanied by a robust selection of wine, beer, and spirits.
Breakfast is hearty and designed to carry you through the morning hunt. Eggs, fruit, homemade cinnamon rolls, Bailey's french toast, baked ham, and maple bacon are just a few of the morning offerings.
No skimping on lunch either. Buffalo or venison chili on Indian fry bread, grilled burgers or pheasant and wild rice soup and salad are a few of the favorites.
Dinner is always a special event. We may start you off with whiskey meatballs, scallops, and bacon jam or a pheasant wild mushroom pizza from our wood-fired pizza oven before moving into dinner. Salad and/or soup always start our dinners featuring a variety of entree choices including fire-grilled ribeyes with lobster tails, parmesan walleye with wild rice risotto, and South Dakota pot roast with roasted onions, potatoes, and carrots in a merlot sauce.
Homemade desserts and our special selection of port finish off the night with our triple chocolate brownie sundaes and caramel apple crisp with a bourbon sauce vying for top honors.
Menu suggestions are welcome. Allergy and other health-related food requests are easily accommodated.
